Description

Symphony X's follow up to V - The New Mythology Suite. This is by far their heaviest album to date, and features the 24 minute epic "The Odyssey" based on, obviously, Homer's "The Odyssey." Certain parts of this album sound like they were written by Pantera themselves, while the Odyssey sounds, in several spots, like Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence."
Created 2003-02-21 by Doran.

Reviews

  • This is, by far, Symphony X's heaviest album and one of their best. It is hard to listen to this album and not be reminded of Pantera with more melodic vocals. Russell Allen is an excellent and underrated singer that really outdoes himself on this release. The anger and melody has never been so perfectly blended and utilized. The title track "The Odyssey" is an exhilarating progressive feast with well-written lyrics and beatifully fitting orchestration.
