  • Only a month into the expansion, so I'm sure my opinion will vary as we get deeper. For most other games that might sound strange, but for MMOs after the first month is really when you start playing end game content in earnest (arguably, that's when the game "begins"). Sadly, that's also when a lot of friends leave as they don't want to pay for a subscription (either in money or time). But I digress. So far I've primarily experienced a positive (dare I say joyful) run of gameplay. As usual, I hit every quest and zone while leveling, which it turns out is actually required for this expansion as you need some rep with all of those factions to open up World Quests, the latest iteration of daily quests at max level. Unlike times past, they're somewhat random, always multiple ones in each zone, and of varying degrees of difficulty/time/rewards. They're also the primary rep system at max level. They're all on timers and rewards for gear scale up with you. So far I like them, although once I got around 835 item level the scaling seems to have stalled. I'm assuming they want you to actually do other content for higher gear (dungeons/raids/arena). Crafting is very different so far in that you get a variety of quests in order to get recipes (cool), including some to go into dungeons (ug, really?). I don't mind dungeons, but as dps I haaaaate waiting on queues so I don't do them often outside of weekend runs with friends. The new weapon system I give a thumbs up; each stage feels like an achievement, both in story but also in gear/ability improvements. I like the follower changes as well; a smaller group is definitely welcome as you "get to know" each npc. It's nice having a guardian that has a little oomph out in the wild as well... especially since they insta-respawn after a battle if they happen to die. Far better than the hour wait we had last expansion. As for the economy, lots of gold flying everywhere and I've been able to get some of it. It's kinda fun having to hit the auction house again after the mindless (but highly profitable) gold from garrisons in the last expansion. It's too early to really comment on pvp balance, but I'm hopeful.
