- I'll revisit this once I've gotten another viewing or two under my belt. My initial feelings were positive; I enjoyed watching it. The main issues I had with it were the use of CGI for actors (it's really obvious and pulled me out of the movie) and the main antagonist is a one-sided asshat with no depth and a predictable character arc. It was probably a bit too much tied to the old movies (including using lines and film stock) where it seemed a bit heavy handed in reminding us we're watching Star Wars. Probably made more obvious by Episode VII already hitting those buttons (and in a much more professional manner). I enjoyed the new characters, in particular the force-sensitive priest and his guardian. Similar to ep7 it was nice to see the alliance gear pretty much random stuff generally in a beat-up state. Added to the "realism", which is always a fun phrase to use for a space opera that's more fantasy than scifi.
