Description

You gotta like a CD that lists "foot-stomps" for percussion. Hiatt at his songwriting best - a musical cousin to Springsteen, but with more humor. In a live broadcast Hiatt said during recording he realized they were mostly kind of sad songs, so he wrote the last song as more uplifting, "Before I Go" - what a finish. Wow.

  • Great blend of raw, back porch guitar blues with a funky, folksy feel. Enough good rhythm and hooks to keep you interested. Strong from beginning to end.

  • I'm not a huge John Hiatt fan, but this CD is excellent; it avoids the electric guitar in favor of an accoustic old time blues feel. A change for the better for him, as it does let his songwriting stand out and avoids some of the cheesiness I seemed to feel with his other work.
