- A worthwhile read. The writing is very well done; the author has a knack for interesting and descriptive language that seems to flow together effortlessly. However, unlike a Soldier of the Great War, I did not empathize for the most part with the main character. In many instances, I was rather annoyed with him. But I suppose that's better than being indifferent towards him. Overall, a good book although I enjoyed Soldier a lot more.
