Description

It's hard to categorize this album, other than to say that it spans multiple genres. It's not so much a merging of the varying styles that make up those genres, but a majority of the songs can easily be classified as one category or the other. This includes reggae, funk, gospel, blues, rock, metal, and singer-songwriter fare.

  • This album is certainly an interesting mix of music. I like most of it, although I've never been a fan of when he tries to do harder stuff. My favorite songs on the CD are ones that I would associate stylistically with him the most; Ben Harper on an accoustic guitar singing his heart out ("Amen Omen" in particular). Unfortunately, I find the album is hard to listen to as a whole (which is my preferred way to listen to music). "Two Hands" starts out great, but is way too repetitive. Some of songs just seem out of place and the album just doesn't have a cohesive feel to it.
