Description
Essentially a port of the previous year's Playstation 2 version. The graphics are an improvement over the older PC version, but the gameplay had some problems (most notably in the short passing game). The running game is pretty good. Multiplayer over a LAN is good, although I've occasionally had inexplicable connection problems. I know of people who have played over the Net using a broadband connection with minimal problems.

- Solid overall game. I played it almost every day during lunch against some friends at lunch. The lack of a short passing game annoyed me. The ability to run pleased me. The random connection problems really annoyed me. The graphics weren't awe-inspiring, but they were pretty good. The GUI (e.g. for setting up a game and picking teams) is really bad. The League options sounded great on paper, but in practice it was difficult and annoying to set up; there was virtually no documentation on the subject. The manual for the game was useless, aside from the quick reference for the in-game commands. While that's a lot of negative stuff, the most important piece of a football game is the gameplay, and that's where the Madden series rules. So I'm still giving it a good rating. If the other pieces were there (or better) and the gameplay further tweaked, no reason this game wouldn't be a 10.
